Calexico, California - In honor of our Centennial, the City of Calexico will host its first annual Battle of the Bands “Rockin’ The Border” on Saturday March 22, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. at Rodney Auditorium, San Diego State University, Calexico Campus.

Five local amateur bands will compete in front of five judges, and a packed audience, for the grand prize of a chance to record a professional demo with a local recording studio. Tickets are $5.00 and on sale now at Whittaker Music in Calexico, Clark Baker Music in El Centro and Calexico City Hall.

“I came up with the idea of having a Battle of the Bands in honor of our Centennial because I wanted to provide our youth with an opportunity for them to express themselves artistically,” said Louis Fuentes, Calexico councilmember. “It will also allow our youth to unite for a great cause.”
